List of my interests has been supplied by

I'm not going to pick anyone for this meme - if you wish to have a go, comment, and I will pick 7 of your interests.

1. Artefacts of Rassilon
I added this interest shortly after I wrote Emotional Support for Distressed Time Lords - a Romana/Sarah Jane fic thanks to a plot bunny that attacked me out of nowhere, like they do. Damn them. Anyway. In one section, it features Sarah Jane looking after numerous objects for Romana (and the Doctor). One of which is the Teaspoon of Rassilon.
I find it fascinating how one (slightly mad) Time Lord can acquire so many dangerous objects, including the Black Scrolls (of Rassilon), the Hoover (of Rassilon), the Great Key (of Rassilon).
You get the idea...
2. Dancing
Dancing has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. No kidding.
When I was 3 or 4, I took up Ballet, soon followed by Tap, soon followed by Modern Dance. I quit these at 11 for Ten Pin Bowling (but took up Contempary Dance at my (then) school for a year. This means my ankles are ridiculously strong from the Ballet training. (Unfortunately, I couldn't really take it seriously, as a career - I apparently have the 'wrong' shaped shins).
So I didn't dance again, lesson wise, until I was 18.
At university, I took up something which, quite possibly saved my life: Salsa.
I picked it up quickly, to the extent that within a year I was performing.
I then took up old-style Jive (as opposed to the modern-style they dance in Ballroom/Latin), which is so easy, anyone can do it.
There was also the time that I learned the waltz, quickstep, 'modern' Jive and cha cha cha in 4 days for a competition for the Uni's Dancesport team.
Bored at home, Summer 2007 and having had a small taste of Ballroom/Latin, I took it up at home. We have a fantastic teacher, here.
I now know: Salsa, Old Style Jive, Waltz, Quickstep, 2-step, Social Foxtrot, Rhumba, Cha-cha-cha, 'modern' Jive, a bit of Samba, a few steps of Ballroom Tango.
And I couldn't be happier.
3. Doctor/Martha
This is the first 'ship' I took seriously in Doctor Who. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind Doctor/Rose - but it drove me mad, all the 'one true love' stuff, as I firmly believe the Doctor loves them all - even Adric.
I found Martha, spunky, bright, and all 'round fantastic - the Uni connection was a help, as she was a trainee Doctor, and me being a biologist. I just thought she was an ideal foil for the Doctor. I love how she challenges him and he, her.
Also, it helps that the TV programme doesn't particularly support this - and I don't like being told what to do, when it comes to enjoying a TV Show.
4. Doctor/Romana
Firstly: ROMANA IS ALIVE. I don't care what anyone else says, but ROMANA LIVES damn it.
Short version of why I love this coupling:
2 Time Lords, she challenges him, him her. There's none of the problems about Time Lords refusing to accept another species -- although the Doctor *is* a renegade.
He opens her eyes to the Universe, she shows him Time Lords aren't all that bad.
They stay in touch through his regenerations - she's more capable of keeping the same body than him.
It's one of the few couplings where he is less intelligent/less dominant so to speak in the relationship.
Okay that was quite long, but more information can be found in
sneakyangels Who-OTP day. Here.
5. Jamie McCrimmon
Now, I haven't seen much of Jamie, but what I have I love.
He's utterly faithful to the Doctor, so much so that he meets him shortly after he regenerates, and doesn't leave until the Time Lords force him to.
Whilst not the sharpest knife in the box, he does make some acute observations, is always around when the Doctor needs some fists using, keeps a knife in his socks.
Plus there's the kilt. ;-)
And yes, I named my bunny after him.
6. Leela
Uneducated but intelligent. She has her own set of morals that she sticks strictly to, so much so that she'd rather be exiled than compromise them. She's not afraid to kill, and will protect the Doctor (and Romana) in her own way, regardless of her companion's opinions on her methods.
She's one of the most interesting of the Doctor's previous companions, and really comes into her own in the Big Finish audio books.
Plus, how can you not like a companion who will throw a knife, and then use it to eat a huge chunk of meat?
7. Sarah Jane Smith
A strong enough individual to carry off not one, but two spin off tv series (not that I've seen K9 and Company yet), as well as a Big Finish audio series (I haven't heard). She appeals to pretty much everyone, with her attitude, shrewd knowledge, and willingness to investigate - yet she's not afraid to show she's scared.
